Shopping-Book Off Tokyo

Recently I have rekindled my passion for knitting .I decided to search on Kaffe Fassett and came across his interviews on Youtube. They were ever so inspiring that I was desperate to get hold of his first knitting book that was published in 1985.
Tokyo has some great book stores but selection for foreign books are limited . And for old books….virtually impossible.

I did managed to find this book on Amazon. It was listed with 2nd hand book sellers. Just a bit of a hassle to get just one book so I decide to wait for awhile.

Than one evening,my husband and I met up with friends for dinner. After we finished, on route to the subway station,we passed by Book Off. Since my husband has been on a quest to find books by his favorite Japanese writer. We all went in to take a look. I have never really explore this store before.

To my surprise, they don’t only have used books but magazines,comics, DVDs, CD’s, games etc. There was even a section for foreign books. So naturally, I headed straight to that section.,I couldn’t believe my eyes. There it was sitting on the shelf ! The book that I wanted!

More surprise!it was only 105 yen only.Honestly, I have neer felt so lucky.It was like sitting there waiting for me!

There are many Book Off stores in Japan. In Tokyo, there is one big one in Shibuya which also have clothes,bags and shoes. The one in Shirokanedai, this one has the largest selections of foreign books.

去年開始重燃起編織毛衣的興趣。突然想起一位設計師Kaffe Fassett，便在youtube 及google 找尋他的資料。

在Youtube看了他的訪問後，更激發我想看看他於1985年出版，第一本關於編織毛衣的著作，可惜巳經絕版了。而且現時在東京，外國書籍的選擇有限，舊書......幾乎是不可能找到。我曾在Amazon 網上二手書店見過,但是只買一本，訂回來有點麻煩就放棄了。

一晚，跟朋友外出吃飯，在去地鐵站途中，看見了Book Off。由於我丈夫一直在尋找他最喜歡的日本作家的書，所以大家進去逛逛。我從來沒有逛過Book Off，原來Book off 不只有二手書籍，還有雜誌，漫畫，DVD光盤，CD，遊戲甚至衣服飾物等等。我更發現它有些外語書籍，於是，我便跑去看看。隨即，我簡直不敢相信。因為架上就放著了這本書！好像在等著我來找它!更驚訝的是價格只105日元，當時真的感到好幸福。

Book Off 在東京有很多分店，涉谷有一間，書及衣服。另外，白光台Shirokanedai 的Book Off，有最多外語書籍。
