Kaffe Fassett是誰?

他出生於三潘市，60年代時移居到倫敦，起初他的目的只是當畫家。

然而到了倫敦後，在設計師朋友Bill Gibbs的影響下，他對時裝產生了濃厚的興趣。有天跟著朋友去蘇格蘭探訪當地的羊毛公司時，更改變了他的想法。蘇格蘭風景及色彩給帶來前所未有的靈感，此行讓他愛上了色彩繽紛的毛冷。在羊毛公司時，他買了20種顏色羊毛線和織針並急不及待的在回程火車上四處找乘客教他編織。他發現毛線的顏色都遠遠優於繪畫用的油漆，從而開始編織之路。他很快便完成了第一件毛衣，並把毛衣送到英國時尚雜誌Vogue。由於Vogue對他富色彩的作品感到興趣，因此在雜誌上發表了。期後，Fassett繼續努力設計的工作，更和Bill Gibb合作及在Missoni當上設計顧問。Kaffe 設計特色充滿了色彩，圖案和花紋，及精於混合這些原素。從此以後，他更成為著名的裝飾藝術設計師，擅於在不同Medium上採用不同的顏色，當中包括針織，修補工作，絨繡，面料設計，地毯設計，鑲嵌設計，繪畫等等。

Victoria and Albert Museum 維多利亞和阿爾伯特博物館上亦經常發表他個人的展覽。現時，他與他的合夥人及經理Brandon Malby會到各地教授。最近剛推出了個人自傳.Dreaming in color” by Kaffe Fassett。

Who is Kaffe Fassett? A brilliant designer whose medium is color.

Born in San Francisico than moved to London in the 60's.His purpose was to paint in London. He became interested in world of fashion and worked closely with designer Bill Gibb,creator of intricate and iconic kaftans and dresses of the period. It was during a trip to a Scottish yarn mill together when he was inspired by the Scottish landscape and felt in love with the different colors in yarns. He bought 20 colors thus and started to knit immediately on the train. Asking a fellow passgener to teach him to knit on the train! He finds that colors in yarns are far more superior to paint. He sent his 1st sweater to UK Vogue which got immediate attention as it was published in UK Vogue knittings. He continues to work for Bill Gibb as well as commission work to do designs for Missoni’s. His designs are so full of colors, motifs and patterns,intermixed and juxtaposed against each other. Since then Kaffe has became famous decorative arts designer, working with colors in different medium: knits, patch work, needlepoint, fabric designs, rug designs, mosaic designs,painting etc. He is one of the only living artist that gets constantly featured in the Victoria and Albert Museum exhibition. He gives lectures and workshop all over the world with his partner and manager Brandon Malby. Recently he launched his biography "Dreaming in Colors".
